Can you forgive yourself?
Let’s start there because there is no use in moving on to questions about loving others and forgiving others if you don’t think you deserve love and forgiveness yourself.
And not just love and forgiveness from others but can you, do you, love yourself truly?
Are you worthy? Are you worthy of all the love this universe has to offer?
In order to deal with pain and hurt some of us tend to shut down and disconnect from our heart and therefore that makes it hard to connect not only with others but with ourselves.
It is really easy to engage in our habitual coping mechanizisms like drinking or watching too much TV or over eating. We mask the pain instead of looking at why we don’t like ourselves, because that’s hard.
But do you really want happiness? Do you really want to feel and experience love in your life? If you say “yes” and you really mean it then you are going to have to look at why you don’t love yourself.
You need to create to some tools for self-care and make that a priority. That might mean saying “no” so some things and people in the near future. That might be hard too. But how important is your happiness? Do you think yourself worthy of love? Then you will need to spend the time removing the muck from your heart so that you can feel the love you have for your self. Only then can you truly love another person.
