How It Works


If you’ve never been to a hypnotherapy session before then you’re in good company! Not to worry. This page will walk you through the whole process.

The following steps are an overview of how easy it is to reach your full potential using the healing and creative power of your subconscious mind.

Wondering where to start? The first step is a free initial phone conversation. We’ll discuss the problem you want to solve, conflict to be resolved, the emotion you want to work through, and/or goals to be achieved, and determine if this is a good fit for you.

There are no dumb questions, so ask away : )

2 forms

Once the first session is scheduled, I’ll email you two forms. One is an Information Form and the other is a Client Responsibility Agreement. Please print, fill out, sign and bring both to the first session.

The Information Form will be used to aid in serving you as the client. The Client Responsibility Agreement is for you to acknowledge your role in the transformative nature of this process.

Your active participation during our sessions and completing your weekly accelerator exercises are necessary to increase your success in reaching your goals

By law, all information will be kept confidential within the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) regulations.


First Session

The first session is 2 hours.

At our first session we’ll discuss in-depth the problem you would like to solve or goal to achieve. We’ll discuss how the conscious and subconscious minds work, what hypnotherapy is and the myths surrounding hypnosis.

I’ll teach to a few short but very powerful centering and grounding exercises for you to use everyday to recalibrate your nervous system, reprogram your subconscious and refocus your reticular activating system, which we’ll practice together

We’ll move through a short hypnosis technique as a “warm-up” so you can experience traditional hypnosis process, and then discuss your experience. Then we’ll engage in a longer hypnotherapy session which will focus on the issue you want to work on.

To help accelerate achieving your goal, I’ll send you recordings for you to use during the week as well as notes from the session about the techniques you learned. Plus “homework” practices to work on every day to reinforce and strengthen the new positive and healthy neural pathways within your brain that you created during this session.

Daily Practice

Hypnotherapy is not unlike Physical Therapy…

If you have pain and movement problems with your hip (or another part of your body) you may need to see a physical therapist. A physical therapist is trained to help patients heal through hands-on care and patient education.

They also prescribe “homework” in the form of exercises to do on a daily basis at home in order to accelerate healing. This is important for the injury to heal properly and for you to return to 100% mobility.  

Hypnotherapy works in the same way.

While there is great benefit and healing that happens at a hypnotherapy session, in order to accelerate healing and goal achievement, as well as, anchor the new positive beliefs and programming you will need to spend time each day on “homework”.

You will need to spend 15-20 minutes in self-hypnosis or listening to a hypnotherapy recording, twice a day if possible. It would also be helpful to write out your affirmations once a day in the morning or before going to bed and spending a few minutes twice a day reciting your affirmations out loud (which you could do in the car or at home behind closed doors for privacy).

Daily practice is needed so that you train your body, mind, and emotions to move from the sympathetic nervous system, or stress response (fight or flight), and into the parasympathetic nervous system, or relaxation response, where your body and mind reside in balance and homeostasis, and your immune system returns to functioning at 100% power.


Future Appointments


Relax by teaching the body to stay in the parasympathetic nervous system (the relaxation response) for longer periods of time.

Release old negative emotions and programming.

Reprogram for power, strength, success, safety, achievement.

Reinforce all the deep healing and new positive instructions and programming in the subconscious mind.

Using the physical therapy analogy again, each week new processes and techniques are used to deepen the healing and to strengthen the physiology for health, strength and power. Within a short period of time the person is back out riding their bike, hiking, dancing the tango, or whatever is they do to enjoy and celebrate life.

Hypnotherapy is very similar. People take the time they need to heal, however this isn’t like talk therapy where we’ll still be dealing with the same issue 10 months later.

Most Goals and Issues Are Resolved In 3-6 Sessions

3-4 sessions for many habits.

5-6 or more sessions for resolving limiting beliefs and trauma reversal.

8 sessions for Smoking Cessation or healing Overactive Bladder Syndrome

Session Length: These sessions are typically 70-90 minutes on average, or as long as required for completion. There is no additional charge for longer sessions.
